Teen Accidentally Shoots And Kills 9-Year Old Brother After Finding Gun At Home
A teenager accidentally shot and killed his younger brother after the two boys found a gun in their home.
The 14-year old boy was playing with his 9-year old brother around noon in their Perris home on Saturday when the shooting occurred. A neighbor told KTLA that a party was thrown at the home night before where a gun was fired.
"It's a real tragedy if it happens to anyone, but especially someone with their children like this," Perris Mayor Daryl Busch told FOX 11. Busch also lives down the street from the family on Metz Road.
Busch said the boys had found the weapon in a box in the family home. Another neighbor, Stephanie Bernard said she would always see the boys playing in their yard, and wondered if this tragedy was preventable.
"It's sad. They should have the gun locked away. It's just sad to hear that, because i have kids too."
