Street Closures for the 2013 Asics L.A. Marathon

Truth matters. Community matters. Your support makes both possible. LAist is one of the few places where news remains independent and free from political and corporate influence. Stand up for truth and for LAist. Make your year-end tax-deductible gift now.

The 28th Annual Los Angeles Marathon, this year known as the Asics L.A. Marathon, is happening Sunday, March 17, and that means a major portion of the area's streets will be closed to traffic.

There are many street closures impacting the cities of Los Angeles, Beverly Hills, West Hollywood, and Santa Monica, with most starting in the very early morning hours Sunday and lasting into the early- to mid-afternoon.

There is plenty of information, as well as maps, available for you to consult before you attempt to get yourself from point a to point b on Sunday. You'll find detailed info about all street closures on the L.A. Marathon site, as well as ones specific to the City of L.A. via the LADOT site (download the .pdf there).

We've got much of the info here, too.

You come to LAist because you want independent reporting and trustworthy local information. Our newsroom doesn’t answer to shareholders looking to turn a profit. Instead, we answer to you and our connected community. We are free to tell the full truth, to hold power to account without fear or favor, and to follow facts wherever they lead. Our only loyalty is to our audiences and our mission: to inform, engage, and strengthen our community.

Right now, LAist has lost $1.7M in annual funding due to Congress clawing back money already approved. The support we receive before year-end will determine how fully our newsroom can continue informing, serving, and strengthening Southern California.
