Police have released two sketches of the suspect who shot and killed another driver on the 5 Freeway.

The shooting happened on July 13 around 3 p.m. as two cars passed under the 5 Freeway on Branford Avenue in Arleta, the Los Angeles Police Department said.

"According to witnesses, a single shot came from the green-eyed Hispanic driver of a gray Dodge Challenger as he passed the Kia on the right," Detective Ryan Verna said in a statement. "Richard Eduardo Ruiz of North Hollywood was hit and died hours later at a local hospital."

The two passengers in Ruiz's car were not injured.

Detectives previously released a shot of the gray Dodge Challenger, which is an RT model with custom rims. "A camera in the area captured the gray Challenger passing the victim's red Kia on Branford Avenue, just moments before the fatal shot occurred," said Lt. Paul Vernon, commanding officer of the Mission Detective Division.

Anyone with information on the suspect or vehicle should contact the LAPD's Mission Homicide Unit at (818) 838-9976.
