A man was shot and killed during a robbery late Sunday night in a bustling area of Hollywood.

The shooting occurred a little before midnight on N. Cahuenga Blvd. and Selma Ave., an area full of restaurants and bars like Saint Felix, Kitchen 24, and Stout. Witnesses told police that they saw a gunman smashing several car windows before demanding money from a man and gunning him down, reported KTLA. Taylor Dawson, a witness who was getting off of work at 3Dog Cantina at the time, said that he saw about six shots fired.

LAPD Sgt. Lewis described the victim who has not been identified yet as an African-American man between 55 to 60 years old. He was taken to a hospital where he died.

An off-duty LAPD officer who was in the area at the time also witnessed the shooting and chased down the gunman. Even though people witnessed one shooter, the officer took two white men in their 20s into custody and authorities are questioning them. LAPD officer Liliana Preciado tells LAist that police describe the two men as suspects, but haven't made any arrests yet and are still investigating the incident.
