Sheriff's Deputies Accused of Sex With Teens During Ride-Alongs

Sometimes, you run across stories about people who take the most innocent of scenarios and turn them into the worst. This is one of those times.
Two different San Bernardino Sheriff's Deputies are being charged with having sex with underage individuals during ride-alongs, according to KTLA. The ride-alongs were arranged through an Explorer Scouts program, which is a scouting program for young people ages 14-20, focused on helping them down a particular career path.
One of the deputies charged, Nathan Gastineau, ran the program. He is accused of having sex with a 16-year-old girl.
Details of the other encounter have not been released, other than the name and age of the deputy who was arrested: Anthony Benjamin, 30, a five-year veteran.
If this had happened once, it could be written off as a bad apple. But twice? One has to wonder what the motivations of the department are, at that point, for working with teenagers.
