Baby Run Over And Killed By Car After Mother Drops Her
An infant was hit and killed by a car after her mother dropped her in a bizarre and tragic accident yesterday morning. The family of a 3-month-old girl was having lunch at a restaurant in the 11200 block of Fourth Street in Rancho Cucamonga yesterday at about 11:45 a.m., KTLA reports. The family was driving a car they had borrowed at the time. The father went into the eatery to place their order while the mother attempted to park and get her 3-year-old son and baby daughter out of the car.
After the 31-year-old mother had removed her infant daughter from her car seat, she noticed that the car was still on, after she thought she'd shut it off. She walked around to the driver's side and was surprised when the car began rolling backwards. As she tried to put on the brakes, she dropped the baby, who was then run over by the car. The baby was pronounced dead at a nearby hospital.
Authorities said the mother was "extremely upset" but working with them through the investigation. Police do not believe drinking or improper driving was a factor at this time, the Press-Enterprise reports.
