Produce Befouls The 5 Freeway After Big Rig Overturns
A big rig took a spill on the 5 Freeway last night, dumping a load of red peppers into the road and causing two lanes to close.
According to City News Service, the accident happened at about 11:50 p.m. No one was hurt, however reams of delicious vegetables were lost. In addition to the two southbound lanes that were shut down, the transition road from the 134 to the 5 was also closed.
No one is sure exactly why the truck tipped over.
The Daily News reports that the freeway lanes were reopened at about 7:00 a.m. today., and that the transition road was back in commission about 15 minutes later.
