The Los Angeles Police Department are on an intense manhunt in SoCal for Christopher Jordan Dorner, a fired LAPD cop who is believed to be on a shooting rampage targeting law enforcement. Among the victims thought to be linked to Dorner are the young Irvine couple found shot to death in their car a few days ago.

Additionally, 33-year-old Dorner has made threats to members of the LAPD, most notably via a written "manifesto" that targets specific LAPD personnel, all of whom are now under protective watch. Said the LAPD in a statement issued late Wednesday night:

Our Department is implementing all measures possible to ensure the safety of our LAPD personnel, their families and the Los Angeles Community, and will continue to do so until Dorner is apprehended and all threats have been abated.

The LAPD say they are working in coordination with the Irvine Police Department in the investigation into the double homicide of Keith Lawrence, 27, and his fiancée, Monica Quan, 28. Quan's father is Randy Quan, who was an LAPD Captain at the time Dorner was fired by the force. Randy Quan represented Dorner in the hearing that resulted in his termination, according to City News Service.

In his "manifesto" Dorner says he blames Quan for his firing, writing: "I never had the opportunity to have a family of my own ... (so) I am terminating yours."

Another fatal shooting has been linked to Dorner. The ambush-style attack took place in Riverside near Magnolia and Arlington Avenues, targeting a pair of cops on "routine patrol." One Riverside officer was shot to death, and the other wounded.

Prior to the Riverside shooting, a shootout in Corona also believed to have involved Dorner left a Los Angeles police officer with a graze wound to the head but his partner was not hurt, police said. The two officers are assigned to the LAPD's Newton Station, said Newton Station Sgt. Ike Ornelas. The attack in Corona took place near the Magnolia Avenue exit from the Northbound I-15 while the officers were on their way to protect someone named by Dorner in his manifesto.

Authorities have issued what's called a "blue alert" which covers Kern, Santa Barbara, Ventura, Los Angeles, San Bernardino, Orange, Riverside, San Diego, and Imperial Counties.

In the San Diego area, some of Dorner's personal items have been found. 10News reports:

Police said a wallet containing a badge and Dorner's identification was found near Lindbergh Field. The wallet was found in a shuttle along Harbor Drive by a passerby and turned over to police around 2:20 a.m., according to San Diego police Officer Frank Cali. It was not immediately clear what agency the badge represented or whether it was legitimate but the identification was clearly for Dorner, he said.

Authorities all over SoCal are on high alert, and caution that Dorner is considered armed and extremely dangerous; anyone who sees him is asked to not confront him, but call 911 immediately.

Dorner is black, 6 feet tall and weighs 270 pounds. He has been driving a blue 2005 Nissan Titan pickup, California license plate 7X03191. At a briefing this morning, police said Dorner apparently switched license plates, possibly to a plate with the following number: 8D83987.
