Pedestrian Killed in Highland Park Car Crash

One man was killed and another injured when a car struck a pedestrian in Highland Park early this morning.

The incident took place at about 3:00 a.m. near the intersection of Figueroa Street and Sycamore Terrace. According to Officer Rosario Herrera of the LAPD's Central Traffic Division, the driver was headed northbound on Figueroa when he struck the victim, hit a parked car then a tree, and flipped over.

The victim, described as a white man in his 30s, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver, a male Hispanic about 30 years of age, was taken to a local hospital and his condition was unknown.
