Todd Winic, known around downtown Los Angeles as "Oil Dancer Todd" for pouring oil on the ground and dancing on top of it to loud music, has been prosecuted Thursday morning.
“This type of reckless behavior creates a public safety risk and greatly diminishes the quality of life for our neighbors,” City Attorney Mike Feuer said in a statement. “Thanks to close community partnerships we were able to address this problem and work with other city agencies to find a sustainable solution.”
The statement adds that, for years now, Winic "is alleged to pour ample amounts of baby oil on the sidewalk while high on methamphetamines in order to dance to amplified music played from a handheld boom box."
Winic was prosecuted by Kurt Knecht, and pled not guilty to one count of drug possession, and one count of pouring oil on a street or sidewalk. He has been sentenced to 30 days in jail, and three years of probation.
According to online records, Winic has faced numerous arrests for both misdemeanors and a felony since 2015.
