No More Nomo, Please

Hideo Nomo has clearly lost his ability to pitch effectively on the Major League level, and the Dodgers need to end the charade of sending him to the mound every fifth day. Last night was a typical 2004 Nomo start, as he gave up seven earned runs in just four and two-thirds innings, raising his ERA to 8.06 in the Dodgers 7-1 loss to the Giants. His fastball was clocked in the mid-80s.
Makes you wonder if Robin Ventura could do better.
The Dodgers should probably just waive Nomo, or put him on the DL with "inability to pitch" and see if he can find his velocity in extended rehab. While Edwin Jackson has struggled a bit in AAA, Paul DePodesta of all people should know that Las Vegas has a great hitter's park that's skewing his raw numbers. With Odalis Perez missing at least one start, the Dodgers may have no choice but to recall Jackson, and then consider bringing either Wilson Alvarez or Darren Dreifort back into the rotation.
