Black Friday burnout? Couch Potato syndrome? If you are thinking about escaping the clutches of Los Angeles, the folks at Mammoth Mountain would be happy to see you. Early this morning @MammothMountain Tweeted: "12" of fresh snow at Main Lodge this morning; more snow expected throughout the day!" This is thanks to the blustery weather system that crept down the state overnight and brought a little (early) winter white to our mountain sides.

If you do head up to Mammoth, be careful driving on the slick roads. But also be ready to take advantage of a lot of the discounts, specials, and Happy Hours taking place this weekend, with tons of food, drink, and shopping deals to be had, and some events you might want to check out. The LiveVibe blog has all the details here to help you maximize your Mammoth visit this holiday weekend.

You come to LAist because you want independent reporting and trustworthy local information. Our newsroom doesn’t answer to shareholders looking to turn a profit. Instead, we answer to you and our connected community. We are free to tell the full truth, to hold power to account without fear or favor, and to follow facts wherever they lead. Our only loyalty is to our audiences and our mission: to inform, engage, and strengthen our community.

Right now, LAist has lost $1.7M in annual funding due to Congress clawing back money already approved. The support we receive from readers like you will determine how fully our newsroom can continue informing, serving, and strengthening Southern California.
