In 1979, before many of us were born, Jello Biafra proclaimed on the Dead Kennedys' first single:

I am Governor Jerry Brown
My aura smiles
And never frowns
Soon I will be president!
Well, it's been 30 years. Congratulations to the next president of California, Governor Jerry Brown.

Jerry Brown was elected Governor of California in 1974, 1978 and again Tuesday night. Jello Biafra remains an anti-establishment punk of the awesome kind: he opposed Ralph Nader as a Green Party presidential candidate in 2000 and refuses to rejoin the Dead Kennedys (two original members tour with some other guys under the name and visit House of Blues next month). Former eBay executive Meg Whitman has not been mentioned in any songs to date as far as we know.
