Midnight Movie: Rock Over Baghdad
We hear about Iraq everyday but we don't hear enough from real Iraqis. On the cusp of the first weekend of Spring we bring you the fifth and most recent episode from Hometown Baghdad, a vlog featuring documentaries shot by a group of young Iraqi filmmakers. The first episodes took us into the streets of Baghdad and into living rooms with high-fiving soccer fans glued to the tube -- as long as the 3-hrs on/ 3-hrs off electricity grid would cooperate.
In this episode, "Songs of Pain," Strat-wielding Adel turns the camera on himself and reasons: "You can join a band or you can join a militia or you can join a gang. The important thing is that you do something."
Visit Alive in Baghdad for even more impressive vlogging from the cradle of civilization. And while you're at it, stop by Friends of Alive in Baghdad, a philanthropic hub where such vlog-studs as Ask a Ninja star in funny viral shorts encouraging others to donate cameras and equipment to the Alive in Baghdad crew. Full story on the FoAiB drive at The Daily Reel.
