A man is in grave condition after he was shot in the head during a home invasion in Downey, reports City News Service.

The man, whose name hasn't been released, was found by police on the 9300 block of Elm Vista Drive after they responded to a call reporting gunfire. According to Downey police Sgt. Brian Baker, three men forced their way into the house and were confronted by the homeowners. They all went outside, and as they were standing on the front lawn one of the robbers fired a shot, hitting the victim in the head.

The men reportedly fled in a small, light-colored vehicle. The man is listed in grave condition at a local hospital.
