Man Flees Courtroom, Falls from Balcony and Dies
After slipping out of a pair of handcuffs and running from a courtroom, a defendant died when he fell off a three-story balcony in a Long Beach courthouse.
City News Service reports that the man, whose name hasn't been released, was being sentenced after being convicted of domestic violence. When he was ordered to be taken into custody, he was handcuffed, but somehow he maneuvered his way out, ran from the courtroom and scaled a railing over the balcony.
He fell the three floors and landed on the ground, and was pronounced dead at a hospital.
