Man Fatally Shot Outside Hollywood Club Identified
Authorities have identified the man who was shot and killed outside of a Hollywood nightclub over the weekend.
Keon Dontrell Collins, 38, was fatally shot Sunday before 2 a.m. outside of Premiere Supper Club on Las Palmas Avenue near Hollywood Boulevard, L.A. County Coroner Office's Assistant Chief Ed Winter told City News Service.
LAPD officers told KABC that a fight that broke out inside the nightclub poured out into the street. Surveillance video from a nearby business showed Collins walking down the street and approaching a black, four-door sedan. He punched the driver in the face and a person in the car shot Collins in the torso before taking off. KABC reported that there were three to four men inside of the car and the people involved in the incident were believed to be from rival gangs.
"These were gangs that do not frequent Hollywood," LAPD Lt. John Radtke told KNX 1070 (via CBS Los Angeles). "They claim turf outside of this area."
Collins was rushed to the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, but he died during surgery, according to KABC.
Authorities are still searching for the suspects, though a description of them has not been released yet. If anyone has information about this incident, contact police at (213) 382-9470.
