LAPD to Hold DUI Checkpoints this Halloween Weekend

When it's a holiday, there's drinking, and that has the LAPD on alert for drunk drivers this Halloween weekend. The department announced today that they are holding at least two DUI checkpoints and one DUI saturation patrol. Police announce checkpoints to change behavior citywide -- they also don't have to announce all locations. Tonight, a checkpoint will be conducted in Sherman Oaks at Ventura Boulevard and Columbus Avenue from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m. Then on Saturday, between the same times, one will be held in Hollywood at Hollywood Boulevard and Gower Street. On Sunday, officers will do a saturation patrol of the Harbor Area, which includes San Pedro and Wilmington, between 2 and 10 p.m.
Police say people who see possible drunk drivers should call 911.
