We need to hear from you.
Today during our spring member drive, put a dollar value on the trustworthy reporting you rely on all year long. The local news you read here every day is crafted for you, but right now, we need your help to keep it going. In these uncertain times, your support is even more important. We can't hold those in power accountable and uplift voices from the community without your partnership. Thank you.

The LAPD has announced checkpoints for this weekend, which is just one of many reasons that you shouldn't drink and drive when you go out. The announced checkpoints are in the Valley and Silver Lake (but of course, you can get pulled over for drunk-driving anywhere).

There will be a DUI and driver's license checkpoint tonight Friday, April 26 at 8 pm until 2 am tomorrow morning at Hyperion Avenue at Tracy Street in Silver Lake.

There will be a checkpoint on tomorrow Saturday, April 27 at 8 pm until 2 am on Sunday morning at Ventura Boulevard at Columbus Avenue in Sherman Oaks.

There will be another DUI and driver's license checkpoint on Saturday at 8 pm on Roscoe Boulevard at Coldwater Canyon Avenue in Sun Valley.

It seems counterintuitive, but police say that announcing checkpoints actually reduces the number of drunk drivers on the road.
