Two people hit by trains this weekend
One person died and another was injured when L.A. trains collided with pedestrians this weekend.
Early Sunday morning, a woman died after she was struck by a Metro Gold Line train in South Pasadena. It all happened at about 7:30 a.m. morning at Pasadena Avenue and Monterey Road... causing hours of delay .
It is unclear if this incident was accidental or intentional.
South Pasadena Police Corporal Craig Phillips told KPCC what happened, according to the train conductor: "When he approached the intersection, he saw that the woman was standing on the wrong side of the arms. He blew the horn, attempted to stop the train, but it was only about 20 feet before he saw her. And then as it went by, he saw the woman fall under the train."
Phillips believes the woman was in her 40s or 50s.
There were about 30 passengers riding the Gold Line at the time. None of them were injured but the accident caused hours of delays in Metro's light rail service.
Later on Sunday, just before 2 p.m., a man lost his legs after being hit by a Metrolink train in Chinatown. It happened near 1717 N. Main Street.
The victim's age was unknown. A Los Angeles Police Department officer says it is unclear if the man was trying to kill himself or whether he was involved in an accident.
