Silverado Canyon SWAT stand-off: Woman, man detained; 10 rescued from equestrian center

Update 7:00 p.m.: Woman, man detained; 10 rescued from equestrian center
Orange County sheriffs officials say they've detained two people for questioning in the SWAT stand-off that stranded about 10 people in a Jackson Ranch equestrian center.
Lt. Jeff Hallock told KPCC that a woman was detained at a residence SWAT officers had surrounded close to the center.
"She was detained because she was at the residence in question when the SWAT officers made contact there," Hallock said.
A man was also detained earlier in the day.
Orange County SWAT team members did a protective sweep of the residence. As of 7 p.m., they were waiting for a search warrant to be issued allowing them to do a more thorough search.
Shortly before noon, witnesses said they heard gunshots that they believe came from the house, and saw bullets whizzing by their heads. Hallock said Orange County detectives haven't yet confirmed they were gunshots.

Hallock said officers were able to escort around 10 people who were sheltering inside the equestrian center as officers surrounded the house.
"Earlier in the day the SWAT team responded and they completed completed a rescue of about 10 individuals who were taking cover at Jackson Ranch," he said. "Those people were removed from the equestrian center safely."
No weapons have yet been recovered from the residence and there have been no injuries reported.
Santiago Canyon Road remained blocked in both directions Wednesday evening.
Update 1:44 p.m.: Residents asked to shelter-in-place
Orange County Sheriff's deputies are responding to a call of shots fired in Jackson Ranch in Silverado Canyon.
Details are sketchy so far, but sheriff's spokeswoman Gail Krause said the call came in shortly before noon. Nearby residents have been asked to shelter in place.

City News Service reports that a local equestrian center was evacuated:
Several people were evacuated from the equestrian center and SWAT officers were working to get eight more people off the property as of 1:15 p.m., [O.C. Sheriff Lt. Jeff] Hallock said, adding that a perimeter was established around a home next to the equestrian center
There have been no reported injuries, Krauss said. Sheriff's air units and a SWAT team are responding.
Santiago Canyon Road is closed between Williams and Modjeska Canyon roads.
