LA high school lockdown lifted after prank call reported armed men on campus
A Los Angeles high school was on lockdown for more than an hour after a prank call reported three armed men on campus, officials said.
Police responded to Animo Jackie Robinson Charter High School Wednesday at 10:40 a.m. after they received a call about three armed men in the hallway, one possibly with a shotgun, said LAPD spokesman Richard French. Officers swept the school.
Los Angeles Unified School District spokeswoman Susan Cox said the lockdown was lifted about noon after an hourlong police search found nothing. She said it was apparently a prank call to 911.
"No weapon was found, no suspicious students, nothing to validate that this was even a legitimate call," Cox said.
There were no reports of injures, police said.
"We're all fine, we're resumed as usual," said a woman working in the school office. "The kids are going to be in school until 3:10 p.m."
