Then, at the Earth Explorers, partake in a hands-on exhibition presented by National Geographic.

The international exposition Photo L.A. is returning for its 24th year. Peruse photos ranging from 19th century works to contemporary art at the historic L.A. Mart this weekend. Here's a list of galleries that will be showing their stuff (see photos in slideshow above). You can also expect lectures and roundtable discussions. This year's expo will honor artist and UCLA professor Catherine Opie, who will have a special installation on display. Pro tip: Love art? There's also the L.A. Art Show happening downtown; shuttle there for $10.
When: 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday; 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday
Where: L.A. Mart | MAP
Price: $20 for a one-day pass; $35 for multi-day pass
7. New Ramen Spot: Ramen Champ
There's a new ramen restaurant coming to Chinatown's Far East Plaza and it's brought to you by the brilliant man behind EggSlut, Avin Cailan. Just like Grand Central Market's wildly popular breakfast spot, you can expect a line at Ramen Champ. Eater L.A. says of the new spot, "The simple, arty space seats just 22 though, so anyone really hankering for a bowl of Cailan’s tonkotsu better plan on getting in line early."
When: Opens 4 p.m. Monday
