Disney starts filming fourth 'Pirates of the Caribbean' movie

Walt Disney Studios started filming the fourth installment of the blockbuster franchise “Pirates of the Caribbean,” and Johnny Depp has returned to play the starring role of Captain Jack Sparrow, the studio announced today.
“Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides,” will be filmed in 3D in Hawaii, the United Kingdom and Los Angeles.
Geoffrey Rush will be joining Depp to reprise the role of Barbossa. He will be joined by actor Kevin R. McNally who played Joshamee Gibbs, Captain Jack’s longtime friend.
Orlando Bloom, who starred as Will Turner in the first three “Pirates” movies, is not expected to return to his role in the newest film.

The movie is expected to open May 20, 2011.
Penelope Cruz joins the cast as the newest female co-star and Captain Jack’s love interest. The captain’s “not sure if it’s love or if she’s a ruthless con artist who’s using him to find the fabled Fountain of Youth,” Disney officials said.
“When she forces him aboard the Queen Anne’s Revenge, the ship of the formidable pirate Blackbeard (Ian McShane), Jack finds himself on an unexpected adventure in which he doesn’t know who to fear more: Blackbeard or the woman from his past,” Disney said.
The three “Pirates” films have generated $2.7 billion at the box office worldwide.
