Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump squared off in the first of three nationally televised debates.

If you prefer to engage in politics as a spectator sport, you have options.
Numerous restaurants, bars, theaters and other venues around Southern California plan to screen the presidential debate live so patrons of all political stripes can watch together.
One such bar, situated in downtown Los Angeles, is The Association.
"One of the things that we feel we are also responsible for is engaging the local downtown community in things that really affect us all," says Farah Casis, the bar's private events manager. There will be no cover charge but patrons are encouraged to RSVP.
The 90-minute debate will be held at Hofstra University in New York. Lester Holt will be the moderator.
With so much hubbub surrounding the election, there will be so many ways to watch Monday's debate. Watch on TV, online with your desktop computer or even on the go with your phone. Here are a few ways to watch the debate, with or without people.

The debate will be broadcast by all of the major television networks. If you don't have a cable subscription, never fear — social media has your back.

Catch the PBS NewsHour stream of the debate above. The Washington Post will also have a stream of the debate on YouTube.
Partnering with Bloomberg News, Twitter will live stream the presidential debate with a split screen for your computer desktop where you can see incoming tweets about the showdown. The official hashtag for the night on Twitter is #Debates.
