Apple's 20th LA location opens in Glendale

The company that peddles iPhones, iPads and iPods opened its 20th store in the Los Angeles area this weekend not far from the first one it opened up on the West Coast almost 10 years ago.

Apple already has one company store at the Glendale Galleria mall, and the newest one is directly across the street in Glendale’s Americana at Brand shopping center.

This store looks to be three times the size of its neighbor. And nowhere else in the world can you find two Apple stores in such close proximity.

Apple rumor sites claim it’s one of the first so-called Apple 2.0 stores — retailers with a stronger focus on personal customer service and a lot more room at the Genius Bar, Apple's in-store technical support.

Company officials, who have been hush-hush about the details, declined an interview for this story.

You come to LAist because you want independent reporting and trustworthy local information. Our newsroom doesn’t answer to shareholders looking to turn a profit. Instead, we answer to you and our connected community. We are free to tell the full truth, to hold power to account without fear or favor, and to follow facts wherever they lead. Right now, LAist has lost $1.7M in annual funding due to Congress clawing back money already approved. The support we receive from readers like you will determine how fully our newsroom can continue informing, serving, and strengthening Southern California.
