Got a Homelessness Or Housing Question for LA’s Mayor? You Can Join Her Phone Town Hall
Topline:
Housing costs and homelessness continue to be top-of-mind concerns for Angenelos. And tonight, residents will have a chance to put questions directly to L.A. Mayor Karen Bass during her first telephone town-hall.
What’s happening: At the 7 p.m. town hall on Tuesday, Bass plans to update residents on how to access new emergency rental assistance, answer constituents’ questions, and give updates about what she’s done in her first nine months as mayor.
How to join the town hall: Sign up before 4 p.m. Tuesday using the form on this webpage.
Wave of evictions this year: New city data released Monday shows nearly 50,000 households received eviction notices in L.A. since February. There was a big jump in monthly evictions from March through June, mostly after the city’s eviction moratorium ended in late March.
How to sign up for emergency rental assistance: L.A. city officials launched a rent relief program last week to help low-income renters pay off debts from early in the coronavirus pandemic.
Applications are open until Oct. 2 for emergency rental assistance for L.A. residents who qualify. More information – and the application — are available here.
