Metro Launching 24/7 Bike Hub At Hollywood And Vine

If you find yourself cycling through Hollywood on the regular, you'll now have a new spot to lock up your bike.

As unveiled on The Source, Metro will open up a new bike hub on May 19 at the intersection of Hollywood and Vine, just steps away from the Hollywood/Vine Station Red Line station. The facility will hold up to 64 bikes, and will be accessible 24/7.

You'll need a paid membership to partake, however. There's a seven-day pass that costs $5, a 30-day pass for $12, and a one-year pass for $60. Also, discounts will be given to seniors who are 62 and above, students in grades k-12, as well as for people who are designated as being disabled or have Medicare.

Another thing of note: you'll need to bring your own lock to secure your bike to the racks. And if you don't have a lock, you'll be able to buy one at the hub's retail section, which also doles out bike lights and other accessories.

As for why you should spend the cold hard cash for a membership, Metro says that the hub has CCTV coverage and a security alarm—extra protection for that new Colnago you spent your entire paycheck on.

Not in Hollywood? There's another bike hub out in El Monte that opened in 2015 (it was the first of its kind, with the Hollywood/Vine being the second). Metro is also planning new hubs in Culver City and Union Station. Though, as noted in the comments section of this Curbed LA article, these bike hubs can take a while to come around. Metro says, "Stay tuned…"
