Hollywood High School to be Named 'Historic Place'

Congratulations, local students: you may be attending school in an historic building. L.A. Now reports that Hollywood High School will be added to the National Register of Historic Places later this month.
The school on Sunset Blvd. and Highland Ave.is known for its famous alumni, including Laurence Fishburne, Carol Burnett and Swoosie Kurtz; its mural facing east towards the Hollywood sign, and its architecture.
The push to have the school added to the registry came from the Hollywood High School Alumni Association, and was approved on January 4.
One year ago, Congress voted to defund public media, eliminating a critical $1.7 million from our budget every year going forward. But they couldn’t silence us, and we’re not going anywhere.
