An Oxnard man is in the hospital after trading gunshots with police officers, reports ABC News.

The shots were fired after the suspect fled the scene of a domestic disturbance. He was later seen by Ventura County cops driving through Ojai, at which point he took them on a high-speed car chase. He allegedly fired on the pursuing officers from his car, and was then hit with at least one shot himself.

The suspect is now hospitalized.
