Get Out: Abbot Kinney Festival, CicLAvia & La Feria de Los Moles

By Michaia Hernandez
CAR-FREE: Today CicLAvia will be shutting down streets to cars near downtown, MacArthur Park, Boyle Heights and South Los Angeles from 10 am until 3 pm. Here's our guide to the guides, and the event's website.
MOLE: Over 13 variations of Mexican Mole will be presented and available for purchase at the 5th annual “La Feria de Los Moles” (The Mole Fair) in L.A. The event will take place in La Placita Olvera in 845 N Alameda St. from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Entrance is free. For more information, check out our write-up or visit the event's website.
SUSTAINABILITY: Venice's own Abboy Kinney is hosting its annual festival celebrating life on the mile-long stretch in Venice. There will be live music, unique crafts, delicious food—and an emphasis on eco-consciousness. The festival organizers' commitment to sustainability means they want you to recycle, carpool and ride your bike to the festival — and not just because it's Abbot Kinney Fest Day. The festival kicks off at 10 am and lasts until 6 pm. For more information, visit the event's website.
MARINA: Discover Marina del Rey with a free community event open to everybody in Burton W. Chase Park at 13650 Mindanao Way. The event, which goes from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., features live music, inflatables, food, water events, and games. There will also be booths from various environment, health, and safety organizations. For $5, you can also get a wristband that gives access to the attractions in the park. Click here for the official event flyer or call (310) 305-9545.
As Editor-in-Chief of our newsroom, I’m extremely proud of the work our top-notch journalists are doing here at LAist. We’re doing more hard-hitting watchdog journalism than ever before — powerful reporting on the economy, elections, climate and the homelessness crisis that is making a difference in your lives. At the same time, it’s never been more difficult to maintain a paywall-free, independent news source that informs, inspires, and engages everyone.
Simply put, we cannot do this essential work without your help. Federal funding for public media has been clawed back by Congress and that means LAist has lost $3.4 million in federal funding over the next two years. So we’re asking for your help. LAist has been there for you and we’re asking you to be here for us.
We rely on donations from readers like you to stay independent, which keeps our nonprofit newsroom strong and accountable to you.
No matter where you stand on the political spectrum, press freedom is at the core of keeping our nation free and fair. And as the landscape of free press changes, LAist will remain a voice you know and trust, but the amount of reader support we receive will help determine how strong of a newsroom we are going forward to cover the important news from our community.
Please take action today to support your trusted source for local news with a donation that makes sense for your budget.
Thank you for your generous support and believing in independent news.
