Will Pinkberry Pummel Studio Yogurt?

"It [Pinkberry] was perfectly fine, I don't get the hype, and if you're looking for me on a 'normal' fro-yo night you can still find me at Studio Yogurt." ~ Das Ubergeek

Studio City's staple yogurt shop, Studio Yogurt, has found its competition in the form of a 2-minute walk around the corner dashed with mangoes and Cap'n Crunch. LA's latest obsession has found itself in the Valley at the same spot where we last visited the now extinct Boba Bar. Now, munching on Pinkberry while shopping at Trader Joe's next door can be accomplished. That is, if you can get yourself a parking spot at this strip mall on Ventura Blvd.

What is Pinkberry Mr. Gold?

Pinkberry yogurt is as pure and smooth and white as the Carrara marble from which Michelangelo carved his David, a perfection probably attained through the use of powdered nonfat milk, which is a Korean obsession. If you are what you eat, Pinkberry may be the ideal food. Unless you happen to like your yogurt, as many Pinkberry customers do, sprinkled with Fruity Pebbles. (Showing Pinkberry, LA Weekly)

Pinkberry is quite tasty, but the Valley environs, even at 6 minutes from Hollywood & Highland, makes the Design Within Reach furniture just a wee bit out of place. Studio Yogurt has that snug feeling of home and when you get brainfreeze, you go grab a warm coffee at the Coffee Bean next door (And it's that Coffee Bean, like the Starbucks down the street, where you can find every screenwriter and wanna-be actor sipping up their ideas).

Studio Yogurt is going nowhere and last night's visit to Pinkberry proved it. The lines at both fro-yo haunts were equal, but as with that homey feel, it was hard to find a seat at Studio Yogurt and all too easy at around the corner.

And in a neighborhood with so many dog walkers famished from their walks at Wilacre Park, their fro-yo shop better be dog friendly.

Pinkberry is located at 12044 Ventura Blvd. Studio Yogurt is located at 12050 Ventura Blvd. Both are in Studio City.
