Weekend Eats: Backyard BBQ, Free Breakfast, And Dog-Friendly Brews

The weekend is so close you can practically taste it. Here are the edible events going on in the next few days to keep you occupied -- and sated, for that matter.
Barks and Brews at Angel City:Downtown L.A.'s Angel City Brewing is partnering up with Much Love Animal Rescue to do an event called Barks, Bubbles & Brews this Sunday, where beer- and dog-loving Angelenos can get their pups sudsed up while they do the same. For a $10 donation, your pooch will get a wash while you get a brew. Angel City will donate 15% of the day’s beers sales to the rescue group. There will also be live music and food trucks on site.
Bouchon's Birthday Party: To celebrate Bouchon's second birthday, the Bouchon Bakery downstairs will be slanging $2.00 macarons all weekend, and a special white confetti birthday cupcake. They'll also be doing discounted juices and cold brew coffee, so if you're in the area stop by. You can justify your sweets splurges by drinking some fresh juice made from watermelon, cucumber, raspberry, ginger, lemon, kale, celery, parsley, or romaine, and walk it off around BH afterwards.
Backyard BBQ and Beer Trucks at Freddy Smalls: This Sunday, Freddy Small's will be firing up the 'que and making an all you can eat feast that'll put your favorite KBBQ spot to shame. Think Maryland Blue Crab, tri-tip, roasted pork shoulder tacos, and more. What's even more exciting that they'll be having a craft beer truck on site for the sipping. The event starts at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday. Tickets are $45 in advance and $55 at the door and can be purchased by calling 310-479-3000.
Free Breakfast at Urban Radish: Urban Radish, a gourmet grocer located in the Arts District, is officially opening with an all day celebration on Saturday, including a complimentary breakfast at 9 a.m. The festivities will go all day and into the night when the local, artisan-focussed shore finally closes at 9 p.m.
As Editor-in-Chief of our newsroom, I’m extremely proud of the work our top-notch journalists are doing here at LAist. We’re doing more hard-hitting watchdog journalism than ever before — powerful reporting on the economy, elections, climate and the homelessness crisis that is making a difference in your lives. At the same time, it’s never been more difficult to maintain a paywall-free, independent news source that informs, inspires, and engages everyone.
Simply put, we cannot do this essential work without your help. Federal funding for public media has been clawed back by Congress and that means LAist has lost $3.4 million in federal funding over the next two years. So we’re asking for your help. LAist has been there for you and we’re asking you to be here for us.
We rely on donations from readers like you to stay independent, which keeps our nonprofit newsroom strong and accountable to you.
No matter where you stand on the political spectrum, press freedom is at the core of keeping our nation free and fair. And as the landscape of free press changes, LAist will remain a voice you know and trust, but the amount of reader support we receive will help determine how strong of a newsroom we are going forward to cover the important news from our community.
Please take action today to support your trusted source for local news with a donation that makes sense for your budget.
Thank you for your generous support and believing in independent news.
