How To Eat Your Way Through The Weekend And See The Oscars In Style

The weekend is so close you can practically taste it. Here are the edible events going on in the next few days to keep you occupied—and sated, for that matter.
Mardi Gras at Short Order: Short Order at the Farmers Market will be hosting a good, old fashioned Mardi Gras party, and a Fat Tuesday fiesta to boot. On Tuesday, they'll be throwing a Louisiana-style Crawfish Boil complete with papered tables, jumbo crawdads, corn, okra, red potatoes, roasted tomatillos, cornbread and hot sausages. But if you can't wait til then, check out their weekend specials of shrimp and grits from the Gulf made with cajun trinity, smoked tomato creole sauce, and charred scallions. There are cocktail specials going on for both festivities, where you'll find classic NOLA-style sips for $11 such as French 75s, Sazeracs, and Vieux Carres. You can find out more info here.
New Brunch at Littlefork: Located in the heart of Hollywood, Littlefork is offering a "bottomless" brunch. For $12 per person with the purchase of an entree, guests can choose bottomless Littlefork Punch, Bloody Larry's signature Bloody Mary made with bourbon and a house-smoked tomato juice, Bloody Mary's made with house-smoked tomato juice, and Mimosas. Some of said entrees on offer are Moules Poulette (applewood bacon, tarragon, cream); Salad Lyonnaise (smoked duck breast, poached egg, dijon vinaigrette); and the Breakfast Poutine (pictured above, cheddar, two sunny side up eggs, maple syrup). You can find out the vitals on their site here.
Oscar Party at L’Ermitage: If you feel like getting gussied up to watch the Academy Awards this weekend, L'Ermitage in Beverly Hills is hosting a swank viewing party so that you can feel like a celeb too. Thienot Champagne will be sponsoring the bash, which goes from 4 p.m. to 11 p.m. General admission goes for $50, which includes free champs and nibbles. There are $86 VIP tickets that include free valet and secured seating for watching the show. Get more info and tickets here.
As Editor-in-Chief of our newsroom, I’m extremely proud of the work our top-notch journalists are doing here at LAist. We’re doing more hard-hitting watchdog journalism than ever before — powerful reporting on the economy, elections, climate and the homelessness crisis that is making a difference in your lives. At the same time, it’s never been more difficult to maintain a paywall-free, independent news source that informs, inspires, and engages everyone.
Simply put, we cannot do this essential work without your help. Federal funding for public media has been clawed back by Congress and that means LAist has lost $3.4 million in federal funding over the next two years. So we’re asking for your help. LAist has been there for you and we’re asking you to be here for us.
We rely on donations from readers like you to stay independent, which keeps our nonprofit newsroom strong and accountable to you.
No matter where you stand on the political spectrum, press freedom is at the core of keeping our nation free and fair. And as the landscape of free press changes, LAist will remain a voice you know and trust, but the amount of reader support we receive will help determine how strong of a newsroom we are going forward to cover the important news from our community.
Please take action today to support your trusted source for local news with a donation that makes sense for your budget.
Thank you for your generous support and believing in independent news.
