Virtual Happy Hour: Butternut Old Fashioned and Biscotti at Little Dom's
If there's anything that could get us in the mood for this weekend's holiday preparations , it's cookies and cocktails on the cheap. Over at the Deli at Little Dom's , they're offering steep 50% off discounts on their cookies from 4:30 p.m. til their closing at 6 p.m. every day. Sate your sweet tooth (or take some away to avoid baking on your own) with scones, olive oil cakes, cinnamon buns and a variety of homemade cookies, or purchase one of their savory focaccias or basil and provolone biscuits to munch on. After you pick up your goodies, you can head next door for a tipple.
There are plenty of great Italian wines on the list, of course. But all this mayhem calls for something stronger. Head bartender Nikki Sunseri makes a butternut squash old fashioned by using the classic cocktail formula, but giving it a seasonal twist. It starts with house made butternut squash infused Eagle Rare bourbon, which really gives that feeling of the winter months. Then she adds in maple bitters, Fee whiskey barrel-aged bitters, maple syrup, and then tops it off with the classic orange peel garnish, on the rocks of course.
If that doesn't get you in the mood, at least it will calm your nerves.
