Dude, could the Arts District get any cooler? First came word of Portland's Stumptown Roasters making a move for the hip, up-and-coming (see: rapidly gentrifying) neighborhood in Downtown L.A. Now Santa Cruz's Verve is getting into the mix.

Verve is known for repeatedly firing up some of the country's best roasts, and producing some of the world's best baristas. Members of their crew consistently place in the US Barista Championships, and we're huge fans of their product. (Though as Banana Slugs, we admittedly love pretty much anything that has to do with Santa Cruz.)

The LA Weekly reports:

Verve will open a training facility and tasting room in Downtown's Arts District to support wholesale accounts and host public events. When the roastery/cafe does open, the training facility and tasting room "will be integrated into the new space," Barr says, and "public events will absolutely continue" there.
