The Oscars: Where to Eat, Drink and Watch the 85th Annual Academy Awards
In case your invitation to Sunday evening's massive red carpet back-patting schmoozefest shindig known 'round the world as the 85th Annual Academy Awards got "lost in the mail" and you don't have plans to watch along at home, we've got a list of a few places around town hosting Oscar Viewing parties, so you won't have to cheer, jeer, and play armchair fashion critic alone.

PUBLIC KITCHEN & BAR
Besides being in the Dolby Theatre and dining at the Governor's Ball, you're not going to get much closer than right across the street from the Oscars than at the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel, which happens to be the site of the very first Academy Awards in 1929. Their stellar restaurant, Public Kitchen & Bar is hosting a live viewing party. You can watch the ceremony on flat screens set up around the dining room and nosh on Executive Chef Tim Goodell’s three-course prix-fixe featuring signature items like Wagyu Beef Tartare, Dover Sole, and Lemon Napolean. Champagne and bottle service is also available so guests can toast the winners throughout the evening. The Oscar viewing party prix-fixe menu is $99 per person (excluding tax and gratuity). Seating is limited and reservations require credit card information. 5 p.m.- Midnight.

CASA DEL MAR
Take your celebration to the seashore! Hotel Casa del Mar is hosting a live viewing party of the Oscars complete with cocktails, snacks from the new Lobby Lounge menu and complimentary popcorn. Guests are invited to test their Oscar knowledge in a contest where the person who has the most correct predictions of Oscar winners will receive a complimentary dinner for two at Catch Restaurant (excluding alcoholic beverages). 4-9 p.m.

Food lovers know the hottest ticket in town is really a meal ticket, and when it comes to meals--especially meat-centric ones--everyone is hungry for a taste of the just-opened Bludso's BBQ on La Brea. You can get stick-to-your-ribs eats like ribs and other BBQ deliciousness while watching those dressed up stars collect statuettes Sunday night thanks to their 6 large flat screens around the restaurant and bar. Hey, you don't need to forgo the carbs and squeeze into a tight gown or tux, so why not enjoy a night at Breadbar in Century City? They'll be hosting a viewing party, along with a ballot contest, cocktail specials, and more. Starts at 4 p.m.

MAR'SEL
If you'd like to get a little fancified and whimsical for the big night, mar’sel at the Terranea Resort is having viewing party and offering a special menu of dishes inspired by each Oscar-nominated film. Chef Rebecca Merhej’s menu includes a selection of appetizers, entrees, and desserts, like the Argo inspired “Hollywood Meets Iran” potato latkes with caviar, crème fraiche, and chive, the Django Unchained inspired “Bounty Hunter Lamb Rack” with barley, cucumber, crushed olives, mint and warm pita bread, and the “Zero Dark Chocolate”, a bittersweet chocolate cake with dulce de leche gelato and sweet whipped cream for the hit film Zero Dark Thirty. The cocktail menu will also have a movie theme. Reservations required. Party starts at 4 p.m., show starts at 5 p.m.
