Our June member drive is live: protect this resource!
Right now, we need your help during our short June member drive to keep the local news you read here every day going. This has been a challenging year, but with your help, we can get one step closer to closing our budget gap. Today, put a dollar value on the trustworthy reporting you rely on all year long. We can't hold those in power accountable and uplift voices from the community without your partnership.

Taco Bell brought us the ingenious Fourth Meal, but now the fast food company is testing out a bold new idea for First Meal: a waffle taco.

The waffle takes the place of a tortilla or, say, a Cool Ranch Dorito shell, and it's filled with a sausage and scrambled eggs. A packet of syrup comes with the otherwise savory taco, according to Brand Eating (h/t Laughing Squid).

So far the new taco has only been spotted behind the Orange Curtain in Newport Beach. Instagrammer Sarah Chavez took the photo you see above of the new menu item, and she called it delicious and awesome.

It's listed at 89 cents, though Brand Eating noted that sometimes Taco Bell offers discounts on test items to encourage customers to give it a shot. Let us know if you've been able to try the taco out and share your reviews or pictures here.
