'Sunday Boozy Brunch' Is Coming To Esters In Santa Monica

Truth matters. Community matters. Your support makes both possible. LAist is one of the few places where news remains independent and free from political and corporate influence. Stand up for truth and for LAist. Make your year-end tax-deductible gift now.

Esters Wine Bar in Santa Monica is launching a boozy (because, of course) Sunday brunch on July 16.

"We have such a beautiful patio and a relaxed atmosphere here, so our Sunday Boozy Brunch is the perfect opportunity to gather friends for a lighter breakfast and cocktails before heading to the beach, or even linger over some hearty sandwiches until our afternoon tastings begin," Kathryn Coker, Esters co-owner, said in a statement.

And since this is Esters, you know those mimosas and French 75s are going to be on point. The brunch cocktail menu also includes an heirloom tomato bloody mary topped with smoked chorizo, and "A Oaxacan Tail," which is made with cold brew coffee, mezcal, and mole bitters. Of course, you can still order a magnum of Red Car rosé or a bottle of Philippe Foreau Vouvray Brut Reserve.

So, what about the food? Rustic Canyon's chef Jeremy Fox and Esters' chef de cuisine Chris Ono have devised a menu of brunch favorites done the Esters way. A bagel and lox is now comprised of smoked trout on an everything bagel, with cucumber, tomato, caper, and red onion. A yogurt parfait becomes organic yogurt, masumoto peaches, granola, and basil. And, of course, would it be Esters without the four-cheese grilled cheese? (Reading, provolone, bechamel, and Reggiano, if you're curious.)

Brunch will run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sundays, with a Sunday wine tasting beginning at 3 p.m. So, maybe take that hour to walk it off, champ. You don't want to out-do yourself.

Esters is located at 1314 7th Street in Santa Monica. (310) 899-6900
