Photos: The Oinkster's 6 New Glorious Creations (And An Old Fave) For Burger Week

With our free press under threat and federal funding for public media gone, your support matters more than ever. Help keep the LAist newsroom strong, become a monthly member or increase your support today during our fall member drive.

It's that wonderful time of year again where The Oinkster holds its annual Burger Week. From June 2 to June 8, burger enthusiasts will get the chance to sample the Eagle Rock joint's creations. And this time around, they're slinging six brand-new items you've haven't tried before.

They're busting out ones with names like the Pantera Burger (a heavy metal nod), full of pulled pork, bacon, and deep-fried mac-and-cheese goodness; this one's created by local favorites Grill 'Em All and has only seen the light of day in New York City when they toured it through there. There's also the unveiling of the Turducken, which Lord help us, is a combo of duck pastrami, deep-fried chicken breast and turkey patty with a bunch of Thanksgiving fixins. There's also a HotBurg on a Stick, which they'll be pairing with some limeade that's only available that day.

The one burger they're bringing back is the Big Max, their kicked-up take on McDonald's Big Mac; in their version, they use two Nebraska angus beef patties.

They'll be serving a different burger each day. And if you're one of the lucky ones who samples all seven burgers for the entire week, dubbed as the "Burger Week Burger Challenge," you shall gain the title of the "Burgerlord." Huzzah! Last year, The Oinkster handed out 235 Burgerlord t-shirts out to the folks who were down to stuff their faces, and they'll be handing out new shirts in their 4th annual foodie celebration.

Keep in mind though that Burger Week only takes place at their Eagle Rock location, not the Hollywood location they recently launched.

At LAist, we believe in journalism without censorship and the right of a free press to speak truth to those in power. Our hard-hitting watchdog reporting on local government, climate, and the ongoing housing and homelessness crisis is trustworthy, independent and freely accessible to everyone thanks to the support of readers like you.

But the game has changed: Congress voted to eliminate funding for public media across the country. Here at LAist that means a loss of $1.7 million in our budget every year. We want to assure you that despite growing threats to free press and free speech, LAist will remain a voice you know and trust. Speaking frankly, the amount of reader support we receive will help determine how strong of a newsroom we are going forward to cover the important news in our community.

We’re asking you to stand up for independent reporting that will not be silenced. With more individuals like you supporting this public service, we can continue to provide essential coverage for Southern Californians that you can’t find anywhere else. Become a monthly member today to help sustain this mission.

Thank you for your generous support and belief in the value of independent news.
