Opening Soon: Chef John Rivera Sedlar's Playa
There's been a flurry of activity on Beverly Boulevard as the former Grace spot is in its final stages of being transformed into Chef John Rivera Sedlar's latest project, Playa.
LAist's Lifestyle Editor Julie Wolfson took a peek through the papered windows and sent over this dispatch: "Looks like the space is just about done. Hopefully they will pull down all of the paper and tape soon. I peeked inside. The space is gorgeous. Very modern with beautiful sleek wood surfaces and a glossy glass and chrome exposed kitchen in the middle for diners to be able to see the chef and kitchen staff in action."
We're told they're prepping for an opening on or around February 4th. Sedlar previewed some of the menu back in September during a stint at Test Kitchen; the concept is a slightly more casual Latin eatery than his Downtown Rivera. "Vaunted Rivera bartender Julian Cox will also oversee the cocktail and spirits program at Playa," noted Feast, which means Playa will be a must-try destination for mixology enthusiasts.
