Olé, Olé! It's National Taco Day!

For Taco Tuesday observers, you probably already have this one in the bag, but October 4th happens to be National Taco Day. That's a pretty easy one to cover in Los Angeles, since we're home to some of the country's best taco shops and stands, not to mention a whole fiesta of Mexican restaurants that serve up tacos. Oh, and, lest we forget, tacos take on all sorts of flavors these days, from vegan creations to the fusion food truck fare popularized by one certain KogiBBQ.

We've talked a lot about tacos on LAist over the years: Which ones to feast on to feed that impending hangover, where to get fancy ones, which unsung hero stands are the best not-so-secret spots in town to hit up, where to get some on the super cheap, and even where to find 'em in Mexico City.

L.A.'s Best Tacos is a hot topic on message boards like Chowhound or Yelp. In fact, there are websites devoted to tacos, i.e. The Great Taco Hunt, or the tacos section of LA TACO. You want the best? You can find top tacos thanks to polls and lists done by NBC, Guidespot, ABC7, LXTV, and a whole lot of blogs, too. And, hey, OC, your Fast Food Maven didn't forget you, either.

It's a fiercely individual foodstuff, so go forth, celebrate, eat, and enjoy.

You come to LAist because you want independent reporting and trustworthy local information. Our newsroom doesn’t answer to shareholders looking to turn a profit. Instead, we answer to you and our connected community. We are free to tell the full truth, to hold power to account without fear or favor, and to follow facts wherever they lead. Our only loyalty is to our audiences and our mission: to inform, engage, and strengthen our community.

Right now, LAist has lost $1.7M in annual funding due to Congress clawing back money already approved. The support we receive from readers like you will determine how fully our newsroom can continue informing, serving, and strengthening Southern California.
