Vegetables Take Center Stage At Of Aire, The New Dinner Pop-Up At Millie's Cafe In Silver Lake
There's a new dinner menu at Millie's in Silver Lake. Well, kind of. Chefs Greg Arnold (Sage Bistro) and Dave Martinez (Elf Cafe) have launched an evening pop-up at the Sunset Boulevard breakfast institution under the name Of Aire.
The menu is definitely vegetable-centric (though, what new restaurant these days isn't?), listing dishes like blackened tomato, corn, and okra with Moroccan olives and basil, and a plate of bouillabaisse using heirloom tomato, fried oyster mushroom, and manzano chile. But don't expect vegan, as labneh and yogurt are common ingredients. According to LA Weekly, there are two meat-based items on the menu, too: a bone broth, and a bison Bolognese.
Arnold and Martinez are in good company with their pop-up dinner. Charles Babinski and Kyle Glanville started serving coffee out of a pop-up inside Sqirl before launching their G&B/Go Get 'Em Tiger empire. And Avner Lavi, a former Bestia pasta cook, has been quietly serving some of the most delicious pastas in the city for years out of his Cento Pasta Bar pop-up inside downtown's Mignon Wine Bar.
Of Aire currently runs Thursdays through Saturdays, 6 to 10 p.m. Of note, the wait staff is all of Millie's crew, so you might see some familiar faces as you shovel charred cauliflower, ufra biber peppers, and yogurt into your mouth.
