Truth matters. Community matters. Your support makes both possible. LAist is one of the few places where news remains independent and free from political and corporate influence. Stand up for truth and for LAist. Make your tax-deductible donation now.

Jon Shook and Vinny Dotolo will be having a very special Chicago guest in town this Spring. On Monday, April 8 and Tuesday, April 9, Son of a Gun will become a pop-up for "Masterchef judge" Graham Elliot. (Thankfully Gordo won't be around to be doing any barking.)

Perhaps in a move to test the L.A. audience for a future Los Angeles project, the Chicago heavy-hitter will bring in his sidekick, Operations Director/Corporate Chef Merlin Verrier, as well as his Sous Chef John Slack and sommelier Jamie Kluz.

Elliot's innovative approach in the kitchen is a welcome one here in L.A. He thinks of the kitchen as his sanctuary or lab, and loves to experiment with new ingredients. And considering how gorgeous the farmers markets will be at that point in time, we should be in for a real treat.

The 5-course dinner will go for $100 per person, with wine pairings for an extra $40. You can make reservations by ringing Son of a Gun at (323) 782-9033.

You come to LAist because you want independent reporting and trustworthy local information. Our newsroom doesn’t answer to shareholders looking to turn a profit. Instead, we answer to you and our connected community. We are free to tell the full truth, to hold power to account without fear or favor, and to follow facts wherever they lead. Our only loyalty is to our audiences and our mission: to inform, engage, and strengthen our community.

Right now, LAist has lost $1.7M in annual funding due to Congress clawing back money already approved. The support we receive from readers like you will determine how fully our newsroom can continue informing, serving, and strengthening Southern California.
