A Lil Yachty Pizza Pop-Up Is Coming To Hollywood This Weekend

Congress has cut federal funding for public media — a $3.4 million loss for LAist. We count on readers like you to protect our nonprofit newsroom. Become a monthly member and sustain local journalism.

By now we’re all too familiar with food pop-ups, and our tolerance for celebrity store pop-ups is getting up there.

But are we ready for a mash-up of those two forms, when Lil Yachty brings a pop-up pizzeria to Sunset Boulevard this weekend? That’s right, the rapper behind “Forever Young” and “Peek A Boo” will be taking over the Delicious Pizza spot in Hollywood. The pop-up will run from noon to 7p.m. this Saturday and Sunday.

This isn’t the first time that Lil Yachty has manifested his love for pizza. He’s taken his pop-up shop to pizzerias around the country as part of a promotional tour. Our pals at Gothamistdropped in on his Soho pop-up back in late August (photos above). As evidenced by our friends’ visit, the pop-up mostly centers around the merch. The offerings ranged from $5 magnets, to $30 t-shirts, to a $60 "pie hoody" and a pretty awesome $100 "delivery jacket" that’s just perfect for fall weather.

But will there be pizza? Yes, yes there will be. As you can see in the following picture, pizza was to be had at the New York pop-up:

Also evidenced in the photo: there’s probably going to be a lot of people waiting in line. So it’s best to get there early if you’re itching to get your hands on a Lil Yachty ballcap. As for the pizza angle, this relates to the rapper’s supposedly fanatical obsession with the food staple. In an interview with First We Feast, the 19-year-old claims that he’s eaten pizza every single day since the second grade. When the interviewer marvels at Lil Yachty’s ability to stay in shape, the rapper responds with, "I'm not. I'm tired as hell!"

His admiration for pie has been well-documented in other places, too. Like in this interview, where he spends a fourth of the time tending to a Papa John’s “grease fest” rather than paying attention to the host:

There’s also this video of him learning how to make pizza. In it, he makes a giant contribution to the culinary arts by discovering that he can put pepperoni on the crust.

As for whether Lil Yatchy will actually be there this weekend to eat some of his own pizza, we called the Delicious Pizza location but weren’t able to get a definitive answer. We’ll update if we get any news. It should be noted that, as mentioned on the rapper's website, he'll be in Los Angeles to play The Novo on Saturday, so take what you will from that.

Yachty’s Pizzeria will be at the Delicious Pizza location at 6601 Sunset Blvd., Hollywood. (323) 467-3840. The pop-up will be open on Saturday and Sunday from noon to 7 p.m.

We rely on donations from readers like you to stay independent, which keeps our nonprofit newsroom strong and accountable to you.
