There are more than enough food festivals in L.A., but there is rarely an event where one can enjoy the city's finest sweets all in one setting. Over 30 pastry chefs, bakeries, chocolatiers, and specialty vendors will be hosting tasting stations, demos, classes, and book signings at the Just Desserts festival, which will be coming to the Art Institute of California in Santa Monica on November 17.

Headlining the event will be Sherry Yard, LA’s own superstar Executive Pastry Chef of Spago Beverly Hills, who will be joined by the Food Network's Duff Goldman, Donald Wressell, Alice Medrich, Evan Kleiman, Carlos Enriquez, Marcel Vigneron, Jet Tila, Ricardo Zarate, Roy Choi, and Josiah Citrin, who will be signing his cookbook, In Pursuit of Excellence.

Proceeds from the event will benefit Careers through Culinary Arts Program, which provides culinary career opportunities and scholarships to at-risk high school students.

VIP tickets for early entry (1:00 to 5:00 p.m.) and access to all tastings, demonstrations and classes, and a gift bag are $100 per person payable in advance or $120 at the door. General admission tickets are $50 per person in advance and $75 at the door. You can buy them here.

You come to LAist because you want independent reporting and trustworthy local information. Our newsroom doesn’t answer to shareholders looking to turn a profit. Instead, we answer to you and our connected community. We are free to tell the full truth, to hold power to account without fear or favor, and to follow facts wherever they lead. Our only loyalty is to our audiences and our mission: to inform, engage, and strengthen our community.

Right now, LAist has lost $1.7M in annual funding due to Congress clawing back money already approved. The support we receive from readers like you will determine how fully our newsroom can continue informing, serving, and strengthening Southern California.
