Hello Kitty is Back at Yogurtland This Summer!

One year ago, Congress defunded public media. Now that we're 100% community funded, please become a sustaining member or increase your existing membership today.

She's back! Hello Kitty (and her friends) are returning to Yogurtland this summer for the second year in a row with special cups and spoons and other non-froyo merchandise. It was a big deal last year when Sanrio first teamed up with the frozen yogurt chain (yep, we squeeeeee-ed with delight) so we understand if you are a little giddy right now.

They've got new designs for the 2012 promo featuring the famous feline and her pals. Each character's cup will feature artwork set in a different city.

Here's the schedule for the roll-out of the characters:

- Hello Kitty: July 10 (Hollywood, CA)
- TuxedoSam: July 24 (Miami, FL)
- Little Twin Stars: Aug. 7 (San Francisco, CA)
- Badtz-Maru: Aug. 21 (Honolulu, HI)

Additionally, there will be a Hello Kitty plush dressed in a Yogurtland uniform, key chains, buttons, tote bags and money coin purse featuring all four characters for sale in the stores. Collectors, better hope your Hello Kitty piggy banks are full!

One year ago, Congress voted to defund public media, eliminating a critical $1.7 million from our budget every year going forward. But they couldn’t silence us, and we’re not going anywhere. LAist is now 100% community funded and that means we’re taking our future into our own hands and turning to you to keep local reporting strong.

You come to LAist because you want independent reporting and trustworthy local information. Our nonprofit newsroom doesn’t answer to shareholders looking to turn a profit. Instead, we answer to you and our communities. We are free to follow facts wherever they lead and to hold power to account without fear or favor. Our only loyalty is to our readers and listeners and our mission: to inform, engage, and strengthen Southern California’s communities.
