The co-creator of the popular "Cards Against Humanity" game is in the process of opening a coffee shop right in the same Silver Lake building that has what is dubbed as the "Elliott Smith mural."
By this summer or fall, Ben Hantoot and his wife Michelle, will be launching Dinosaur Coffee at the Solutions Audio Speaker Repair spot that has the beloved mural Smith made popular when he used it as a backdrop for his "Figure 8" album cover, according to The Eastsider. (Solutions Audio Speaker Repair leased out a part of their extra space to the coffee shop owners and will remain open.) However, Smith fans should know that the mural is going to stay, as Hantoot says the album was "a big part" of his "high school experience."
Dinosaur Coffee will be serving Four Barrel coffee (from the Bay Area) as well as tasty goodies from Viva Los Cupcakes, Farm Shop and others. And with a nod to "Cards Against Humanity," they will also host game nights that will test out new games from local developers.
The coffee house is also being designed by MASS Architecture & Design of Silver Lake, which Eater LA noted also did Komodo and Take a Bao.
