Lady M Confections has long been a staple in New York City, with their luscious cakes and pastries drawing crowds to their three boutiques. The signature item is their mille crepe cake, which is made with 20 layers of crepes layered with pastry cream.

Now Angelenos can get a taste of those mile-high crepe cakes at their new store, which just opened on West 3rd Street in Mid-City.

Lady M's founder Ken Romaniszyn is on an expansion spree it seems, with two new locations in Manhattan opening recently, a franchise bakery in Singapore debuting within the next month, and the new L.A. store opening up this week. There's also talk of another L.A. location in Venice along the ever-so-trendy Abbot Kinney.

It might seem a bit ambitious, but our city could certainly use more cake bakeries. And at least it's not another juice bar opening.

You come to LAist because you want independent reporting and trustworthy local information. Our newsroom doesn’t answer to shareholders looking to turn a profit. Instead, we answer to you and our connected community. We are free to tell the full truth, to hold power to account without fear or favor, and to follow facts wherever they lead. Our only loyalty is to our audiences and our mission: to inform, engage, and strengthen our community.

Right now, LAist has lost $1.7M in annual funding due to Congress clawing back money already approved. The support we receive before year-end will determine how fully our newsroom can continue informing, serving, and strengthening Southern California.
