Time for another obit for a food truck that no longer is. This time it's Southern-flavored Mattie's Kitchen, who are packing it in after being off for repairs. They've just made the proclamation, via Twitter: "Sad news: the truck is not getting repaired soon. Afraid that means we r closed. Thx 4 all your support!!! Stay tuned for a restaurant soon!" Two weeks ago, Mattie's Kitchen said they were not serving because of truck problems. It will be interesting to see how, where, and when they make the transition to brick-and-mortar. We first added Mattie's Kitchen to our roster in December; keep up via our list of Food Trucks & Other Mobile Eateries that Twitter.

You come to LAist because you want independent reporting and trustworthy local information. Our newsroom doesn’t answer to shareholders looking to turn a profit. Instead, we answer to you and our connected community. We are free to tell the full truth, to hold power to account without fear or favor, and to follow facts wherever they lead. Our only loyalty is to our audiences and our mission: to inform, engage, and strengthen our community.

Right now, LAist has lost $1.7M in annual funding due to Congress clawing back money already approved. The support we receive from readers like you will determine how fully our newsroom can continue informing, serving, and strengthening Southern California.
